Patch Application Instructions

You can either sew on, or iron on your patch (or both!)

  • Before ironing, double check that your garment/item can take high heat pressing! If not, it could be ruined, and you may be better off sewing the patch on. Leather, nylon, fur, sequins, and shiny/metallic fabrics are just some of the fabrics that may not work properly with an iron-on patch. For these, you would either want to sew on your patch or use a permanent non-heat activated adhesive.
  • Set your iron to the synthetic (polyester) or wool setting, no steam. If using a heat press with a settable temperature, you want to set to 350°F.
  • Remove the white paper backing from the patch, if included.
  • Place your patch, shiny adhesive side down, on the fabric.
  • Use a pressing cloth to cover and press for 15-30 seconds on each section, using medium pressure. Allow to fully cool.
  • Turn item over (or inside out) and press the back for another 5-15 seconds. Again, allow to fully cool.
  • Check the adhesion to ensure that it is stuck to your satisfaction. If it lifts, apply the press cloth and press again in 5 second increments, allowing to fully cool between pressings.
  • PLEASE NOTE: Some patches may not adhere from the front due to the density of stitches, or the addition of 3D puff foam. If you are having trouble adhering your patch, apply the heat for a bit longer on the front. You may need to adhere from the bank of your item and not from the front of the patch.

Washing instructions: Do not dry clean, as the chemicals may dissolve the adhesive. Items with patches should be machine washed inside-out in cold water with a mild detergent, using the delicate cycle. Tumble dry on low temperature or hang to dry.
